It is the dream of every parent to see their children grow up to become great and this is one of the reasons why parents inculcate discipline in their children. We have had many stories like you have shared and even many of us are living testimonies to the importance of discipline.
The Bible emphasize greatly on the need for disciple and any parent who refused to play their part will bear the consequences as well.
