A Short Walk Through the Heart of the City [ENG/ESP]

Greetings, dear friends of this community, which helps us discover more places in every corner of the world, week after week.

Here, I’d like to share these photos from a walk I took through downtown Barquisimeto, an area often called the heart of the city because it’s located right in the center.

I’m talking about Calle 25 between Carreras 21 and 22. That’s where you’ll find the “Cosmos” shopping center, a must-visit spot when you need to buy a phone or other telecommunications accessory, because this place is full of stores that specialize in this field, and if you need cheaper technical service, you can find it right across the street with the people who repair cell phones.

Across from the Cosmos Center stands the Church of St. Joseph, where I go with my family to celebrate our faith.
It has a facade in warm shades of yellow and blue and is located in the center of the square of the same name.

Plaza San José is characterized by large, leafy trees that have stood the test of time and feature hanging birdhouses so that the birds that live there can find a safe place to nest.

This square is traditionally filled with vendors during Catholic festivals and also serves as a gathering place for artisans who craft the figurines and everything related to nativity scenes and Christmas decorations.

That day I attended the afternoon mass and took the opportunity to take some photos around the plaza. Since it was Sunday, there was little traffic—something that only happens on holidays, because from Monday through Saturday everything is packed with cars and pedestrians, and traffic becomes chaotic.

On the corner of the square stands the “Crepúsculo” building, a very old structure that used to be a hotel. The facades of this building are beautiful, even though the passage of time has taken its toll on the finishes of the railings and walls.

Calle 22, which runs in front of this building, is where all the taxi and minibus routes pass through, and you can imagine the traffic and hustle and bustle that ensues on workdays.

Sitting on the benches in San José Square is a way to relax and forget a little about the stress we experience every day; however, you have to be on the lookout because a little bird might surprise you.

That concludes this short stroll around Plaza San José. I hope you enjoyed it, and I look forward to seeing you again soon.

Thank you for your attention. Blessings.

Bendiciones.

San jose plaza is beautiful and the flowers surrounding the environment added luster to its beauty. But since those flowers have stayed for years, don't you think they should be replaced with new ones?

The square is surrounded by trees that have stood the test of time. The flowers are wild trinitarias that require no care. Thank you for visiting.
