We appreciate your posts and the following ones are selected because of their botanical qualities. They are manually curated on behalf of the Amazing Nature Community.

First a brief explanation about Botany:

Botany is a broad term covering scientific study of plants. It could be from a small living organism to a tree. Included would be flora, fungi, lichens, trees and flowering plants.

We are also interested in plants for their psychological (good for the mind & soul) benefits.

Through botany, medicinal properties are discovered from nature. Food, medicines, parks, forests, pollution and much more have been improved with botanical knowledge. Botanists search for alternatives from the harmful chemicals used on crops and the deforestation that has damaged the health of our planet.

Herbalism, with ancient people identifying edible, medicinal or poisonous plants, is the original of Botany. Our ancestors and Native peoples were botanists in their own right. They knew of the healing properties to be found in plants but much of that knowledge had been lost to future generations.

Now I would like to bring your attention to the curated posts and ask you to show some love to the amazing authors:

  • @barski explores different fungi and captures the cunning shapes of various mushrooms and shows us their beauty and mysterious nature.

  • @manorvillemike shows us what a hairy poison ivy vine looks like creeping up a tree.

Keep away from it for we know the itchy feeling of red swollen skin within hours after coming in contact with any part of this plant.

  • @mdaminulislam takes us on a tour of the radish crop in a Bangladeshi village. Not only the farmers work the agricultural fields but the family members also help with the crops.

  • @capp finds wood eating termites in the forest. Like ants they have workers and soldiers. Termites have their own role in nature and are faster than fungi in breaking down matter.

Most welcome Mike @manorvillemike. Poison ivy is a plant to be made aware of. I, for one, didn't know it could be a hairy creeping vine as you captured. I've never know it anything other than a pointed three leaf plant..one larger leaf at the end and two smaller leaves off the sides.

I remember walking through the woods in New Brunswick, Canada with my father and he would warn me about brushing against the poison ivy plant.

When I was 4 or 5 I fell face first in poison ivy bushes at a beach. I then turned over on my back .. just wearing bathing trunks.. Had poison ivy over my while body.. My Welcome to wild nature..

Wow! That would be painful, more so on young delicate baby skin. Do you know what was put on your skin to help? Calamine lotion can be applied to help the itching and burning.

Quite an unpleasant experience for a youngster. I can just imagine the screaming that went on.

Rubbing alcohol is claimed can help remove the urushiol oil the plant leaves on the skin and help with the itching and swelling.
