Is not Religion a curse upon civilisation?
No. It is not religion that wages war, it is governments. Religion will be twisted into an excuse to justify war to the public if it suits the needs of the political class, but that is all.

thanks for stopping by @jacobtothe we shall have to agree to disagree on that point
Was it religion or politics which sparked the most recent Ukrainian conflict? Was it Catholicism and Protestantism, or politics, which brought about war in Ireland against the English?
or how about the crusades? or the islamic Jihad and isil?
The crusades weren't about Christianity and Islam any more than "The Troubles" were caused by Anglicanism and Catholicism. At most it was an excuse to sell political ambitions to the masses. And the modern mess in the middle east is far more a consequence of a century of foreign intervention than it is of Islam. Look at Afghanistan before Soviet intervention, Iran before British intervention, and so forth. I ain't saying it was perfect, but blaming the current situation on "religion" is an incredibly superficial examination of the situation.
