The rain was a bummer! Our plans for today were to go out to a hillside resto-bar and spend my husband's birthday there but when we woke up in the morning, we received a notification from NDRRMC about an orange rainfall. It was really dark that morning and there was no sign of any glimpse of light that we really believed the rain will stay throughout the day, oh well, maybe we can just postpone the celebration.
But things went differently by noontime when I heard my parents preparing something in the kitchen. My mother was cooking pancit and she is not a kitchen person so I guess they were really trying to make this day special. My mother even told me they bought a cake for James. I was touched and so I decided we should just go out and spend this day at the pool instead!
My husband though had a Bible Study with the young people at church so we dropped him there and headed to buy some snacks for them. After dropping the snacks, my sister-in-law and I went ahead to the pool together with the two kiddos, Kuya ZM and Matti. Oh, we also had Miyabear with us! My parents will just follow us after they're done with their own businesses.
It was super calm at Sunkissed Resort located in Sta. Lucia, Trinidad, Guindulman, Bohol. There are so many changes to the resort now. I have blogged about it a couple of times before as we also celebrated James' birthday there last year. We noticed that the crew was busy. There was a wedding reception that will be held there later that day. We paid the entrance fees of PHP 150 per head for adults and PHP 75 for kids 3-7 years old.
We went to the new pool first because we had not tried that yet but unfortunately, as we stepped into the water, it was super cold! We thought we should check out the other pool right next to their restaurant and thankfully, this one was warm. It was raining still at that time but the rain didn't stop these kids!
Matti was at first afraid of stepping his feet into the floor. I am glad this pool has a two feet section for kids! I was holding Matti the entire time but as soon as he figured out that he can reach the floor without getting drowned, he was ecstatic! He even wouldn't want me to hold him!
It was also encouraging for him that Kuya ZM was always showing him what to do, how to jump, and how to just have fun! Matti followed and he was truly active and very energetic as they played with the water.
I was there all throughout because we wouldn't know what happens so I have to be extra vigilant on the kids' actions, making sure that they won't go over the other side which was for adults.
So, we were in the water under the rain for three hours. It was almost four when we decided to get out of the water and eat some snacks. I ordered fries and also I took some chips out of my bag while waiting.
After having some snacks, I received a message from my husband that they were done with the study and were coming to us so I decided to order some food. After that, we went back to the pool again! These kids were very eager and didn't want to just stay at our table!
When my husband arrived at the resort, the wedding reception also started so it was a little noisy at that time, however, these kids were still pumped up with playing at the pool that even if we didn't have any floaters or balls with us, they still found a way to entertain themselves. We started with just sitting at the edge of the pool and then jumping, then we went to the other side where there were lights. Then we started throwing them into the air! I was the only one swimming at that time with the kids. Unfortunately, our little one Miyabear felt really cold when her mom placed her feet into the water.
Here are some of the pictures of me throwing Matti into the air then catching him. He was very happy! He was even asking me to do it again and again!
After a while, Kuya ZM started jumping from the side pool and Matti got interested in it he tried jumping by himself too! Before that, he'd jump but he would ask me to hold his hand. This time, he was so brave to just jump right away without holding my hand!
I was super proud of this little one! When he realized that he can also reach the floor, he was already carefree! He would jump right there without waiting for my signal! Oh, some future scenes flashed through my mind - him just unafraid of the water and becoming a swimmer!
Food started to come one by one as we were still in the water. My parents were already asking us to get off the water and so we can start eating! Here are the food that I ordered:
This is their Garden Salad at PHP 195
I ordered two servings of their Ceviche or Kinilaw. They used Tangigue for the fish which was really good! A plate can be shared between 2-3 adults, this was priced at PHP 245 per serving.
Chicken in a basket for PHP 245. I realized, I wasn't able to try this one because the kids got hold of them right away!
Carbonara had a generous serving! This was priced at PHP 235.
I also ordered two Hawaiian Pizza, PHP 195 which for me was worth it. They got a thick crust this time!
Corn soup was not in the menu but the crew suggested we get one instead. I don't know how much was this one!
Sinuglaw, a pork kinilaw! Actually, it has fish and pork in the dish. It was good too priced at PHP 245.
I also got two orders of Pork Sisig priced at PHP 195 for each serving. The serving was generous too and it was good!
This was their Shrimp Aglio Olio for only PHP 195!
We took some group photos before eating! My parents also brought a cake for my husband! It was so thoughtful of them and we really appreciate their effort! We also sang the "happy birthday" song of course and Matti helped papa blew the candle!
While I really thought this was the end of our stay at Sunkissed Resort, nope, after eating dinner, we went back to the water as the kids asked for more play time! It was still raining but they never mind the sprinkles!
Aside from that, Matti also requested that we go check the acoustic band playing at the wedding reception happening just a few steps away from us but we couldn't see the performer as there were so many people around!
We got the pool all to ourselves that day! I believe that what we paid for that afternoon was worth it because of the happiness that the pool and the rain brought to the kids and even to the young at heart. My husband was also delighted to see Matti just enjoying and having a great time, I guess for him, that's the greatest gift!
