Turkey berry mixed potato curry for the taste of the village.
Hi my fellow vegan lovers,
Geerings dear hivers from Sri Lanka. As I planned last night, I woke up this morning to cook another tasty and nutritious vegetable dish. As my wife prepares other food to be eaten with rice, I only had to prepare the vegetable dish which was a minor task. However, since cooking has become an art for me now, I have been inspired to devote myself to that activity on a daily basis. We had a turkey berry plant in our garden, but these days it has no fruit, so I bought 200 grams of the more expensive ones from the vegetable market. Turkey berries used to be prepared in our house as a tempura or as a dressing. But this time, as a change, some spices were added and a curry was prepared in the village style with potatoes. So in this content I bring you that delicious curry.
Ingredients
- 200 grams of turkey berries
- 2 potatoes cut into small pieces
- Pandan leaves and some curry leaves
- Chopped onions
- Chopped green chilies
- Half a teaspoon of chili powder
- Half a teaspoon of curry powder
- 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric powder
- Salt as needed
- 1/4 teaspoon of fenugreek
- One cup of thick coconut milk
- One cup of thin cococnut milk
Preparing Method
- First, wash the turkey berries well and cut them into two halves as shown in the picture.
- Put the chopped turkey berries in a pan or clay pot and add the diced potatoes. (Cooking in a clay pot can get the natural flavor. As I cooked using gas, I used a pan.)
- Add chopped onions, chopped green chilies pandan leaves and some curry leaves to it.
- Next, add chili powder, curry powder and turmeric powder to the mixture as mentioned above and add as much salt as needed.
- Now mix all the spices well to coat the turkey berries and potatoes.
- Put the pan containing the mixture on the stove, add thin coconut milk, cover with a lid and cook for about five minutes.
- After the broth drains a little, add thick coconut milk and boil it for three minutes and take it off the stove.
