Spicy Stir-Fried Beef with Sunti Acid Spices

Sunti-style sour meat is one of the meat dishes that went viral on social media a while back. Interestingly, this dish looks ordinary and resembles a typical stir-fried meat dish. However, what sets it apart is the use of asam sunti (star fruit), which adds an authentic flavor that makes the dish truly complete.

Meat is often prepared in a wide variety of dishes, all of which are delicious, of course. This particular dish, Daging Asam Sunti, is a meat dish with an authentic Acehnese character because it’s made with fresh asam sunti, which gives it an extraordinary flavor.
Ingredients

- 300 grams beef
- 6 red chili peppers (pureed)
- 5 sunti tamarinds (pureed)
- 5 green chili peppers
- 1 stalk curry leaf
- 5 shallots
- 2 cloves garlic
Preparation Instructions

Result

Ta-da! Look at the result—it’s so beautiful, and the color combination is just perfect. Honestly, this is my first time cooking with asam sunti seasoning—it’s spicy, sweet, and savory with a fresh, tangy flavor from the asam sunti. I’m sure anyone will love it. Serve it with white rice for lunch, and this will definitely become one of my favorite dishes.

Next time I buy meat, I’ll definitely make this dish again because the spice blend is just that delicious. For those of you who love spicy food, I think this will become your favorite dish too.
