New Adventures in Neoxian's Mineclone

Hello and welcome back to my blog!

As you probably already know, I love to play games, all sorts of games from open-world action adventures to small puzzlers and one of my all-time favorites is Minecraft which I used to play years ago. There are lots of sandbox games that tried to mimic the gameplay of Minecraft while providing it free of cost. One such clone is Mineclone 2.

We at the @neoxian city switched from Minetest to Mineclone and started from scratch to build a new thriving city. While I was happy to see Mineclone for being much closer to Minecraft than Minetest but it comes with its own hardships. Surviving your first few nights in the dark is tough with a variety of monsters trying to hurt you.

Spiders become aggressive, Skeletons snipe you from a distance, Creepers try to blow you up at sight and zombies constantly follow you. Worst of all the baby zombies who come after you with light speed. All these mobs make it a challenge to survive in the dark.

When I joined I spawned near a water body surrounded by mountains and large spruce trees. This was not an ideal place to set up my base. So, I started exploring. Soon, it got dark and I was sniped by skeletons. Luckily there was already a cave dug by someone near spawn and I decided to spend my time underground mining.

I had just stone tools and found some iron and diamonds. Only later I realised how rare was this find. I got 3 diamonds and made a diamond pickaxe to mine faster.

I was surprised to find the bedrock at around -57 on the y-axis. This would have been done to make the world size smaller and make the game smoother. But this limitation makes mining precious ores difficult.

I came back up and after collecting some logs decided to go out and find a good place.

It was a dense forest and the day was over again. I decided to dig up a hole in the ground and decide to lay low for the night. While I mined for some time and got some lapiz and other precious ores I was not sure how much time has gone and I didn't want to miss the day again. So, I came up and opened a 1 block hole and 2 baby zombies were waiting for that small window of opportunity. I panicked and they stained me easily.

It was not too far from the spawn and I got back my stuff as well. Later that day I found a nice place with a lot of flowers, grass, sand and water. I decided to call this a home and started setting up my temporary base.

This place had so many animals spawning. There were a lot of Horses, cows, sheep and pigs... perfect for my farm and leather needs for books and other late-game requirements.

This place also had 3 naturally generated ruined portals and the chests contained some nice loot as well.

Gold enchanted items with obsidian blocks to finish the portal and go to nether. I will go to the nether once I get good armour and possibly enchant my weapons as well.

I found pieces of armour in those three ruined portals. They were also ornated with gold blocks so I have a good supply of gold blocks hidden somewhere in my base.

I started a couple of farms as well. I found some watermelon and pumpkin seeds in a chest so I have those farms as well.

I am having a lot of fun and will try to make some auto farms as well. I tried to replicate a farm which I used to have in my survival Minecraft but for some reason didn't work here. I will have to test a lot of other farms though. One of the other big questions I have in mind is whether this world has villagers. I think I have to find out.

I will go out on an adventure and see what I can find around the area. There are tons of things to do right now in this world. And doing it with others is much more fun than having a single-player world. You can also join us and create your own house, farm or whatever your heart desires. This is a true sandbox game and the sky is the only limit.
