A Mesmerizing Trip To- Rameswaram Island!

Have you heard about 12 Jyotilingas in India?
According to the Vedas and Shiva Mahapuranas ancients texts ,there were 64 Jyotilingas of which twelve Jyotilingas are considered to be holy. In these 12 Jyotilingas there is Lord Shiva's Deity. Jyotilinga means Radiant light beam of Shiva. It is said that these Jyotilingas is not human made it has originated by owñ. And lord Shiva resides in these Jyotilingas.

It is belived that one who visits the all twelve Jyotilingas, gets all his wishes fulfilled and washed away all the sins.
The 12 Jyotilingas are very famous and it is said that they are self originated. Thats why they hold a very significant place in Hinduisim.

1.Somnath in Gujrat
2.Malikarjuna in srisailam, Andhrapradesh
3.Mahakaleswar in ujjain, Madhyapradesh.
4.Omkareswar in ujjain , Madhyapradesh.
5.Nageshwara in Dwarka, Gujrat
6.Ramanathaswamy in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu
7.Bhimashankar in Maharastra.
8.Trayambakeswar in Nasik, Maharastra
9.Grishneswar in Aurangabad, Maharastra
10.Kedarnath in Uttarakhand.
11.Baidynath in Deoghar, Jharkhand
12.Vishwanath in Varanasi, uttarpardesh.

There is a story behind the Jyotilinga.
According to the puranas, Lord Bhrahma and Lord Vishnu had a debate over the supermacy. One said I am the supreme creator and other one said I am the superior. So to settle the debate, lord Shiva appears in the form of Huge pillar of light and asked them to find the end of the pillar. But they both fail to found it. That pillar of Lights known as Jyotilinga. Then they knows that the Linga is superior in all the forms.

So now we came to about 12 jyotilingas.
I recently went to Rameswaram ,Tamilnadu one of the Jyotilinga. It is one of the holiest places in India. I went with my family. It was very good time when I visited this Holy shrine because it is Savana Month going on in Hindu Calender and Savana month is for Lord Shiva.

Rameswaram is Situated in Tamilnadu. It is on Pamban Island or Rameswaram island. Pamban bridge is the bridge that connects Rameshwaram island with the main land India. Previously there was a railway bridge too, but in the last Tsunami it was destroyed and the new Pamban railway bridge was getting constructed.

We went via train to Madurai. Then we took car and went to Rameswaram. It was 3 hours journey via car. The driver was our guide and he took us to the Pambam Bridge at first.

There were small boats of fisherman also.

Then We move ahead to Rameswaram Dharamsala first and we took bath there have lunch and then we went to see the Dhanuskodi Beach. The closing time of beach us 6pm.
It was a beautiful beach where Indian ocean and Bay of bengal merge.

The dhanuskodi is a place were Lord Rama gave instructions to built a bridge with the help of Lord Hanuman and his army(vanar sena). This bridge carry his army to srilanka, where Demon King Ravan had kept Sita captive, the wife of Lord Rama. Dhanuskodi is around 30 km from srilanka. The bridge, which was built by lord Hanuman is known as Ramsetu or Adam's bridge. It was buit by unfloating stones.
When the disaster hits this place in 1964, the bridge went down into the sea. So now its not visible and the tourists are also not allowed to go there.

It was an amazing place as you can see.

The wind was blowing too Strong that its very hard to handle my scarf😅😅

Then we went Former President of India - Dr APJ Abdul Kalam's house.This house is transfered into Museum and public can go and see that. It is situated in Rameswaram, in Mosque street. Its near the temple of Ramanatha swamy, only 10 to 12 mins walking distance.

Then the next morning we went to Ramanathaswamy Temple. The lord Shiva temple.

Inside the Temple, phone are not allowed. So I have less photos of the Temple.

At every morning 4 am to 5am Mani Darshan is held.In Mani Darshan the priests show Cyrstal Shivaling. Then after Mani Darshan, there ìs Main Darshan of the shivling. For Mani Darshan there is Ticket for 100 rs and for main darshan is also 100 and 200 rs/-. This tickets will help to skip the queue, but on that day when we visited to temple was rush so we have to stand in a queue for 2 hours approx.

After Mani Darshan one should supposed to bath in 22 kunds which is inside the Temple premises. For this kund Bathing there will be ticket for Rs 25/- per person.
Then after taking bath we changed our clothes and then went for the Main darshan of the Lord Shiva.

So the full process of Darshan , bathing and again Darshan will take about 3 to 4 hours depending on the queue.

There was many more Places to discover like Rama Theertham and lakshman Theertham.

There was floating stone also but I cant get the pics of that so I wont able to share it😑.

But there was one beautiful Temple of Panchmukhi Balaji(five faced Hanuman). It is a long statue of Lord Hanuman with his five faces. This temple also have floating stones.

So it was very lovely and mesmerizing trip for us. It is must visit place in India. The beaches, the Temples,,The pamban bridge everything is unique and has their own stories. If you have faith and belive in History, then visit this place and known about the ancient history.
