Weekly-ish Running Update, Missing that extra pint!
I managed to get in three decent runs this last week, Sunday 'long' run, Tuesday not so fast 5K and intervals just today.
I was slower than usual on account of giving blood last Thursday, turns out a pint donation reduces yer performance by around 10% for up to three weeks after said donation, but that's O.K.
I'm not exactly a performance athlete after all!
Sunday's Run - 10K
My first 10K in a while... as in actually making it to 10K. Not for future reference there were a couple of pools of water which meant I had to walk in a couple of places for a few metres, it's been raining a lot recently.
Overall, a very pleasant run - I kept my pace in check knowing I was weakened but that was O.K. I think one feels the effects of donating blood less on these longer, less intensive runs
Tuesday's not so fast run
I felt this, it was tough!
A full minute slower than this time last week pre-blood donation, and I think that's the only reason why I'm slower, a 5% reduction in performance, actually not too bad, but I couldn't have gone faster!
Friday's Intervals...
Just my standard intervals...
After a decent warm up it's really
- 1 700
- 1 250 metre
- 2 400s.
That's just the way the streets naturally break up the intervals.
I was hanging on for that last 400, it's a tough one with a couple of bends.
I may mix this up next time and hit my local park which lends itself to some 400s quite naturally.
Although that does sound like an effort, I will see how I feel!

Well done. I'd not thought about giving blood affecting performance. I tried to donate recently, but due to some treatment I had a while back they say I can't do it any more.
Well it's good for your running times, at least! It's amazing the list of things that prevent you from being able to donate!
And I have had stroll more than 10k steps every day since last week.
👍
Great effort!
Wow man, you're really running hard. I've started walking too. I'm doing fast walks so I don't burn out too much at once and soon I'll start running too.
Walking is a good build up into running, for sure, good luck!
It is good that you have continued this routine. It is a fact that daily running improves our health and reduces diseases.
