Finally time has come to see off each other and allow him to transition to the beginning of his independent journey. Here is my first heartfelt letter to him that has been drafted over last two weeks, wishing him all success.....

Dearest Shree,

Congratulation to You being independent on Independence Day – independent from my consistent annoying follow ups on every minute details, even though, I know that you really do not like all of them, all the time. This also frees me up a bit, to allow you grow independently and explore this world and learn from your experience.

That does not mean, I will completely stop doing what I do, ya, it’s hard to change my habits because you were blended into my life and making sure, you are on right path, became part of my habits for last nineteen and half years, but certainly they will be less, delegating more responsibilities on you to take care of yourself, for a good reason, to make you more matured - after all, I will not stay with you forever – that’s the harsh reality. You will have a roller coaster ride from here on out—at least until you reach my age. May be keep this letter with you and read it then – you will have a completely different feelings reading this at that time.

And I am sure, from here, you will remember everything that you do – good or bad. Like I tell you always, doing everything good is ideal, because that will not cause any regret in life. So, you really need to be careful all the time to genuinely decide what is good and not pretend to show that you are doing good – the results will follow automatically. Everything that you do gets recorded on a small chip that lies inside you and it will be forever beyond the reach of any technology or science – that chip is called conscience. And interestingly that chip talks more to you during later part of your life, right now it just records everything in silent mode. If you do your duty righteously all the time, then there is a possibility of getting less worries in later part of life, otherwise trust me, there is nothing else that hits harder than your conscience. There cannot be a trouble-free life – it simply cannot be because you cannot control everything even if you are right all the time. As I say often, you will have to experience your Prarabdh or destiny, accumulated from your past-life actions, and you cannot change that. However, what you can change is your present karma and only two things decide your success – your destiny (Prarabdha) and your karma (Purushartha). Destiny or Prarabdha is like an arrow already shot from a bow to hit its target – you can slightly change the course and impact, only if you pray God from the core of your heart. That is why I keep telling you to pray God as much as possible, at least when you start your day – you really need blessings to be able to control your desires and do the right duty and then stop worrying about the consequences. Often it takes long time to realize this and had I realized this earlier, I would probably have shaped my life better. However, it’s always better to learn from other’s mistake and I have tried my best to tell you this every now and then, so that you don’t do the same mistake and realize this, much sooner than I did and do what I could not.

I have been living my entire life, trying to do my duty to the best of my abilities and attain perfection – most say perfection is an illusion and I completely agree with that – it’s an illusion when you try to find that in others or show that to others. Whatever you do, there is no need to prove it to others, because your happiness should come from within and if you can confine that to yourself, and live to your duties, you will most likely end up leading a successful life. Perfection is only for self-satisfaction, to control your desire, to prevent you from not losing yourself to weaknesses, bad decisions and rather have always good experience and that is only possible when you retrospect yourself every day and make sure you are on the righteous path – Your Karma will stay with you forever - wealth alone cannot give you happiness.

So, to end up this on a lighter note, you really don’t need to pay too much of attention or become too serious – start the day with prayers, just do what is right, build an everyday discipline that will stay with you for your entire life, do not get into any addiction, do not take any undue advantage (monetary or whatever so) and most importantly, do not get involved in any relationship before marriage – it will literally kill you. Be strong. If you are right, learn to defend yourself and do not bow your head to anyone except the Almighty or your teachers.

On top of what Prasad Uncle said (because I know you better), you will prosper, if you genuinely do what you try to show – that will earn you the blessings that you really need to lead a very successful life. And keep that sound clip with you – that’s your first Humanity Trophy and probably the best real achievement till date – you will probably realize the reason more, as you get older.

Keep this first and probably last letter from me and read when you attain my age……you will have much more wisdom then, to understand this. You came to my life for a reason and even your name was given for a reason – all these times I was thinking I was doing, but it is done by someone else….Shree ji……If you can understand this fact now itself, that you are part of a bigger purpose and you are special……..

Yours Pappi or Dad or whatever…………..

Every father should address a letter like this one to his son. Every father that took responsibility for the child's life

If my dad would do something like this to me, I would be in tears LOL - of joy obviously.

With that said, I know he had the same sort of pride. As I would have one day...
