Follow Friday: Good times ahead?

The News

It is good to see the $HIVE price recovering and doing better compared to many others. On Coingecko you can say if you like it, so give it a thumbs up. It had slipped outside the top 200 coins, but is back in now. I have my own script to generate this chart.

Prices

We do need more people actually using the Hive dapps. On Hypestat you can see the main blogging sites are not ranking very highly. According to that Peakd gets 20% of its visitors from El Salvador and ranks 55th in the country. Imagine if we could do that well elsewhere. We will lose access to these statistics soon as the Alexa rankings will not be available. Are there any alternatives?

Web stats

@splinterlands ranks a bit better on Alexa, but has dropped to around 20,000. It will be interesting to see how it does now that the daily quests have changed. I think this is intended to encourage more playing and make it harder for bot accounts to win much. I would rather play humans.

Hive has slipped to third on the Sourceforge reviews thanks to some negative posts. We could try to balance those out. You can actually get paid there for posting reviews, so you can get some extra income from that.

Friday Follows

  • Musician @philsaatchi just joined Hive. He is based in Brighton and has played with some big names.
  • Another musicians is bassist @pugdebass, but he is also studying hydrology, which could be vital in maintaining fresh water supplies.
  • I know I have mentioned @sidekickmatt many times in these #FollowFriday posts, but he puts out some great comics, including The Real Superheroines of Hive Valley. You will need to go back through those to see the whole story.
  • @killerwot has been really busy lately, including working with @filmmaking4hive on the Hive movie.

@nathen007 and @nicklewis also did #FollowFriday posts last week.

All these people get a share of the post rewards.

The End

I will be posting a new #BritList tomorrow. If you know any Brits who have not been active recently then perhaps you can nudge them. Even a single vote will make them show as active. If people do not have time to use Hive then they can set up to follow trails on Hive Vote. Even if they are not earning much it is important to have all the HP actively working. If you know people who could benefit from a Hive account then you can mentor them in getting started. I know it is not easy at the start.

Our witness votes will start to fade if we are not active, so you should update those or vote for a proposal to be sure your votes still count.

Have a great weekend.

It's great to see hive move green movements, but theses days I try not to get excited easily because tomorrow is not promised 😂., This script of yours that gives you this chart is cool, man. Did you code it yourself?

Crypto prices can change so quickly, but I know some people get discouraged when $HIVE goes down. We can earn it anyway and benefit when it goes up.

I wrote this script. Coingecko make it easy to get the data.

You mean we have to vote in a regular interval ? If yes, then has it been changed recently ?

There was a hardfork change so that witness votes fade. I had something pop up in peakd to say I should refresh my votes. This could mean that some witnesses will drop down as they relied on inactive accounts. Voting on a proposal is enough to keep the witness votes going.

Halifax is on fairly soon, but I'm not planning to go. We need some more. I am tempted to do one around here. Just got a few other things coming up, but if someone names a date and place I'll try to get there. Can just be meeting in a pub garden.

'Brian' has caught out hundreds of people. I keep running it for fun. It started as an exercise in writing a bot. That's not too hard really.

I think I have to pass again on this. Got various stuff going on this month. Really hoping we can get some events going on down here. I will organise something if nobody else does.

What two dapps are above us now? I know Blurt is one of them, but what is the other one. I haven't been over there to look lately. This just makes me realize how much I hate people :)

I'll give you a clue, it starts with a S ;) I know it's ridiculous that it's up there, but we know that communities can be encouraged to lend support.

Oh geez, that pretty much took away any hope I had for humanity at this point!

I suspect some people on those other platforms don't even know the history. Some will have been told lies about Hive.

Yeah, that is probably true. I finally broke down and wrote my own review.
