What can you get for a tenner!

avatar

Hello Hello Hive it's Friday!

This next sentence will sound like I am a new caller on a radio show!

Long time admirer of @dswigle first time poster in Market Friday!

Grab your pennies we are off a hunt. Specifically, what can we get for a tenner, but it is USA green ten dollar bill not a British tenner.

So what the heck even is ten USD in real money?
1 United States Dollar equals 0.81 Pound sterling
so our ten bucks is Eight pounds and 10 pence.
Right then away we go with our eight quid and don't forget the 10 pence!

I would have liked to join in the @dreemport challenge today, however @dreemsteem this particular store has only about four floor employees and being in the UK, if we would have asked a worker for a picture or to know something about them we would have been hauled off to the local police station or an institution! Actually, I was unable to go to a store today, so this visit is from a shop that I did about three weeks ago!

We are going to go to the local Aldi store, which is a fifteen walk from me in Kirkcaldy, Scotland.

image.png

Did you think I bought all this for £8.10?

Haha not a chance!

To be honest this magical tenner is not a lot in the UK, and this is a cheap shop as well!
So I shall have some option Baskets as examples.

Option Basket A ~ Cuppa and a biccie!

Oh man. I funking hate seeing them littered about. I took the little man on a walk past weekend in the hills and we stopped at a seat quite high up and it had two of them! Lying there, one still had some in it!

Hi Jackie, I love prices, I remember I had shingles when we were living in Spain. I was the one who did all the shopping and driving. So I wrote out a list of what to get from Mercadona and wrote the price next to each site and then got wife and a friend to get it. They could not believe that I knew all the prices haha having a photographic memory helps!
Oh rum and you haven't invited me!
Yes Option C is probably best, I hope the fire is sorted now.
Have a good one:)

Hi Ed
That’s pretty cool… it sure helps to have a photographic memory.
I do know the prices of favourite items we buy each week too… but even here in Spain, they change every week at the moment.

I love rum, so always have some around 😉 if you are in the neighbourhood…

The fire was under control this morning still needs to get extinguished.
But around 1800h a few new fires came up again in new areas… and now 1 hour ago a new one close to a village up in monte mayor. Heridia. All related to the large fire, it’s jumping with the heavy wind.
So still scary as last photo I just saw it was so close to houses…

Thanks, you too 😁👋🏻

Good afternoon Jackie, yeah my memory comes in handy when I want it too😁
Yea prices are changing here almost every week too, going up and up!

The fire that is the problem, is the little ones that jump from the main one. Hope it is all settling down now.
Have a super Saturday:)

It sure is, not much info on it this morning. Officials say it’s under control. But still smoking everywhere.
Lots of helicopters up again. Crossing my fingers 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 It’s extinguished soon.
Thanks so much Ed 😁

You too, enjoy the Saturday!

I think I shall do a mix and match: snowballs from the first,a black pudding (it's been a looong time) from the second, a pair of mangoes and finally, a bottle of pinot noir.

Thank you very much!

I go to our Aldi's! I love that store! It has what we call cheap eats! They are well priced anyway! I get more for my money, honey!

Welcome to #MarketFriday! Where are my manners? It was really fun having you here and you are a great shopper! I was actually surprised at how much you got for your money. No wonder you are the shopper of the house! I actually made 4 complete dinners with my $10.00 (for each meal, just like your baskets) It was fun and a good exercise in managing money. I loved your baskets and I would have to go with backer #3, although you made up such good ones, it is a really hard choice... maybe a wee bit of wine. :))

You didn't want to ask one of the four people working there? You could have gone for a group shot, you know? You are too funny and it was a great time with you. You can come any #MarketFriday and bring more fun with you! Thanks for joining the challenge!

#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers' markets, and eventually branched out and evolved over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but, it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, and even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact that is these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world.

Fridays are all about the #MarketFriday Challenge! Looking to take part in it? Here is how:

Rules of the Road to Join #MarketFriday!

  1. Go to the market, or anywhere that you pay money for a service.
    Take pictures! Be creative!
  2. Tell us a little bit about the market or the event. What brought you there? What did you buy? How much did it cost?
  3. Post the picture(s) Of course, you should tell a little bit about the ones you post
  4. Use the MarketFriday Community Platform to post #hive-196308 (this is not required, but appreciated)
    5. Drop the link into the MarketFriday comment section so I can find it
  5. Following me and reblogging the post so more see it would be appreciated !! Not a rule, just appreciated, more vision for more views on your posts!
    7. You must put #MarketFriday by @dswigle somewhere on your post.

As always, please remember! #MarketFriday loves you!

Thanks Denise, that was fun, I do have one for this Friday, that I was meaning to post at Easter time!
Well better late than never. I do like to try and make posts that are fun to read. Does not always work , but usually those who read can have a chuckle.

You got a feast for that ten! I think I suck at grocery shopping; for $10 I can barely get coffee and a loaf of bread.

I do love my nearest Aldi's, too. I am not exaggerating that I can get about twice as much at Aldi's as I could at any other grocery store. The prices are amazing.

Yeah I remember when Aldi's first came here, they were not that good, but now damn they are cheap and sell decent stuff you would actually want to buy. So I believe you when you say the prices are amazing!
