HARVESTING RAMBUTANS IN FRONT OF THE HOUSE
Hello Hive wherever you are...
I hope all of you are always healthy and happy
today I will share a story about the rambutan harvest in front of my house.
Rambutan is a seasonal fruit that only bears fruit around November to January. So, this new year, because I decided to vacation at my mother's house, I can also harvest fruit that comes from this tropical area.
In front of my mother's house there are two rambutan trees on the left and right.
This rambutan tree began to be planted when I was four years old. I even remember once, that these two rambutan trees were bred with a graft system.
My late father and I planted these two rambutan trees. Since this rambutan body, when the season comes the fruit is always a lot.
Because it grows a lot, usually the rambutan we harvest is partly sold and partly for our own consumption.
If rambutan bears fruit at the beginning of the season, the price per one kilogram reaches IDR 20,000. However, if the rambutan bears fruit when it is in the middle and even at the end of the season, the price becomes cheap and drops to around IDR 5,000.
But, today my brother-in-law and I harvest rambutan to be sent to my brother.
Of the two trees the most fruitful is the rambutan tree on the left. My brother-in-law climbs up using a bamboo ladder to make it easier to reach the top.
The rambutan fruit we have has long, stiff hairs, with a thick fruit that doesn't stick to the seeds. Not much water is produced because it tends to dry.
Lots of people like this type of rambutan because of its sweet taste.
While harvesting rambutan, we encountered some rambutan fruit that was eaten by bats. Some people around me put a kind of bell on the branches of a rambutan tree that was almost harvesting to keep out the bats that operated in the middle of the night.
This artificial bell is then attached with a long rope until it reaches the house of the tree owner so that it can be easily pulled and sounded. This method has been used for years.
This is what we don't do with our rambutan trees.
After having had enough of the rambutans we needed, my sister-in-law came down and was ready to deliver these rambutans to my brother.
That's it, Hive... the story about harvesting rambutan. I hope you don't get bored following my next blog.
