I almost got stung by a venomous scorpion

I was lucky two days ago to escape the sting of a venomous scorpion. Till now, I'm still perplexed as to how this creeping predator crept in into the living room. For all I know, their favorite habitat has always been a cold dry place and my parent's home ain't even cold nor dry, rather it's quite the opposite. So I've been wondering like how the f*ck did a scorpion get into the living room comfortably.

The day it happened

It was two days ago, I was damn busy in school. It was our exhibition day for all students offering the compulsory entrepreneurial course as the NATIONAL UNIVERSITIES COMMISSION made it mandatory for all students in tertiary institutions to learn a skill or two so as to fall back to it if they suffer any roadblock of unemployment in the future.

There were a lot canopies that day in the open area of my university's main auditorium. Each and everyone one of us dispersed in different entrepreneurial sections like (soap making, barbing, small chops & confectionery, shoe making, bead making, web design, photography, music & drama, make up & design, water treatment and packaging etc) were all set to display and showcase the fruit of knowledge and skill garnered so far in the presence of the university Vice Chancellor and other entrepreneurial committee gathered to award marks for work well done.

After a stressful day at school, I got home so tired as the entrepreneurial exhibition drained the physical side out of me. I was so tired and decided to lay down on one of the couch in the living room immediately I got home. After 3 hours of dozing on and off. A bright light from outside shunned past through the window and rested on the walls of the living room. It was the bright light of a truck I assume. In that moment I don't know what came over me to rotate my head to the wall which I did and later slide my head downwards a bit to my leg region which was close to the wall.

You won't believe what I saw.... I saw a live scorpion on the wall, reluctantly swinging it's tail. It was arm's length away from my leg with it venomous tail ready to sting any interception from anything that knowingly or unknowingly moves to it's direction.

I am just thankful that that bright light from the truck flashed passed into the living room and I'm also thankful I wasn't drunk asleep or unconscious about my surrounding. If not it would have been a different case. I would have suffered a venomous sting and who knows what could have happened to me. To cut the story short, my dad and I killed the scorpion.

Assuming we found it settled in it's habitat we would have just let it be but hell no this creeping creature eliminated the option of letting it go, so we had no choice than to eliminate it from harm's way.

Still that same day, I posted on my whatsapp status of how thankful I was for escaping the likely sting of a scorpion and not too long ago after my post on my timeline, a close friend of mine shared the same experience of mine and even shared me a picture as at then it didn't occur to me to take a picture of this creature but I will share the one captured by my friend which was killed in their living room too.

scorpion found in the living room

See how big this one is. One sting from it could've caused a crisis of pain. Thankfully it was averted.

Thanks for reading.

Whenever I see a scorpion, I remember the incident that happened to me about 7 years ago. I was bit by an emperor scorpion and almost touched death. Good that you escaped the sting.

Damn... Bro I thank God you didn't touch death, the crisis must have put you in serious pains. Venomous stings is better said than experienced. Thanks for stopping by.

Sorry, I probably should have included a comment. When one lives in the city and desires to scale the nearby mountains, and by nearby I mean 40 miles away, anything that's not a human being will bring a smile to one's face looking back. As long as there hasn't been a tragedy, feeling alive is better than the endless monotony of car horns and air conditioners and other machinery. Better to have some emotion than the blank faces of the northeastern United States. It's not always like that but it definitely gets that way sometimes.
