🌺 Home Gardening: Lady Fingers are getting Ready
Greetings Hivian...
Here I am with another gardening post. I sow some Okra about 2 months ago. Half of the seeds sprouted which is wonderful considering the fact that seed were home made and no anti-fungal agent was used. I will consider using some natural anti-fungal agent like cinnamon or honey next season, to further improve the sprouting results.
As of now, the plants 6-12in in height and are already bearing Okra. Yesterday, I picked some of the fully grown Okra. The yield was not that much, but the picking would all the energy to the growth. I think within 15-20 days, I am gonna get a nice sizable harvest.
I worked the soil a bit, around all my Okra plants because weed can go wild if left unattended and I am not planning on using any herbicide(in order to stay strictly organic).
Some Information About Ocra
Okra also commonly know as lady finger is rich in dietary fiber and essential nutrients like Vitamin C, Vitamin K, Vitamin A & folate. It can be cooked or used raw. Okra leaves can also be cooked or used in salad. Roasted Okra seeds can be used as substitute coffee beans.
Eating Okra have many health benefits like cancer prevention, reduction in blood sugar, improved gastrointestinal health and better heart health.

Lady fingers, or as we call them, okra are one of my top favorite vegetables! I like to slice and coat mine in panko crumbs then fry to a crunchy finish.
