It's a messy business

Going through social media and reading stories on relationships, it's not uncommon to find lots of stories on the cheating habit of men. About seven out of every ten women have a story of such experiences. What do we call them? Bastards? Scumbags? Cheats? Scallywags? Well, perhaps they deserve to be called all these and many more but how about our cheating?

Yes! You heard me right. Our cheating. Women also cheat. We just don't talk about it much and even if we do, we try to rectify or moralise the affairs. No woman wants to be called a whore so we disguise our devious deeds as romance. We paint ourselves the innocent ones and try to blame the man. "He neglected me, he was no longer caring" or we blame it on the overwhelming persistence and seduction skills of the other man. We just couldn't resist or perhaps didn't even realize how it got that far. These are just self delusion and half truths.

Cheating comes with a thrill. You know you are about to do something bad but at that moment when it's happening, morality is dissolved, oxytocin is shooting up and adrenaline all fired up. There is something sexy about danger. Sexual attraction is a very powerful tool. It's easier to resist when you find him unattractive but if you find even the least attractive, then it's a score. It will only take a lil more processed lies and when it comes to getting a woman laid, one whom he has seen some green light, you'd be surprised the lengths he would go.

Men may have started the cheating chronicle but women learnt from the best and now are masters at the game. Men are not afraid of taking the risks and so they are caught easily. For women it is calculated. Every call and every visit is well planned. Men may tell the dumbest lies when they are late but trust women to come up with a perfect lie with an alibi always by the side to support their claim. We are more cautious and strategic.

When you are not in love, sex is delicate and really awesome and cheating even though so wrong feels so right. It causes a more meaningful sexual connection to be developed between the two individuals involved. Gone are the days when we believe women can't have sex without falling in love. These days, women are becoming more adventurous and willing to have lots of flings with no strings attached.

Cheating is a messy business. If you wanna cheat, do not intend to prolong it or you may end up getting caught soon. The feeling of guilt at the end of the day will always be there when you see pictures of him and his woman or his family. When you are right beside him and his phone rings and his wife's name pops up on the phone screen.

It's greed to desire what doesn't belong to you and it's selfish to want to keep it. Not everyone cheats out of greed anyway, some do this because they are just in the need of having someone for a moment and then moving on. I'm not justifying or glamorising cheating. All I am saying is women also cheat and lately at a disconcerting late.
