Cross Your Forks And Hope To Pizza #fff #57

This is it, there won’t be anymore after this one, this is my last @foodfightfriday contender from the HF20 era. HF21 is right around the weekend—Tuesday, August 27th. Tuesday’s fork increases rewards for downvoting and reduces rewards for creating content as Mr. Albrethsen explains right here. We’ve all seen the different positions regarding the upcoming fork.

In keeping with the theme; forking and positions, this week’s contender is all about a good fork. Like this cover image—Cross Your Forks And Hope To Pizza with gluten free thin crust, dairy and gluten free pesto, fresh garlic, spinach, yellow and orange bell pepper, sliced tomato, red onion and basil baked at 375’ish for 20’ish minutes. Garden salad with romaine lettuce, shaved carrots, peppers, cucumber and cherry tomatoes with a Pura-made balsamic vinaigrette. Happy Friday—the last one with this logic.

The following forking position got its name for obvious reasons—Don’t Give A Fork with a red lentil penne and gluten free fusilli in a homemade tomato Neat sauce with roasted cauliflower, brussels sprouts and green bell pepper.

Next is a another fork position that got its name for obvious reasons, I’m sure you’re no stranger to this one—What in The Fork is Wrong With Your Dishwasher?!

077F6A71-C6B6-4DDF-9120-7943633F8F60.jpeg

These last two forking positions are from opposite sides of the silverware drawer. This first one’s a little less exciting and a lot more formal like a 75:25 to 50:50 split—Missionary.

And, last but not least, what I meant by the opposite side of the silverware drawer. This final fork position is a little less formal and a lot more exciting—Not So Missionary with beans and seed bread—a traditional English side. Madras curry—a traditional English spread. Roasted corn, broccoli, brussels sprouts, zucchini, sweet potato and cherry tomatoes—g’chu some. 😉

Same place next week, deal? No, really, we got a deal or what? 👍🏿 In case we miss each other between now and Tuesday, have a good Fork, I’ll see you on the other side.

Oh yeah well you guys always amaze me with the amount of happy faces occupying the farm. Every picture, every everything, nothing but smiles.

Thanks for noticing our eating habits, we do try to eat well. We, like so many people, spent so many years feeding ourself stuff without being educated we just try a little harder these days, that’s all. God bless the farm!

Thanks for stopping by @farm-mom. It’s always a pleasure hanging out with you guys on Fridays.

Howdy @dandays. Is there ever a time when you just crave a big juice, medium well, t-bone steak. With @puravidaville working now, you would be able to sneak one in and she would never know. 😊
What is up with the bent fork. While trying to set up the silverware in the fashion that you did on your post from last week, I bent one of the prongs on a fork. My granddaughter got the bent fork, and wouldn't you know it, she stabbed herself in the lip. No lasting damage, but I acted like I had no idea how it got bent.
Tried to bend it back. No luck, just threw it away.
As par for the course, the dishes in this post look absolutely scrumptious.
Take it easy on the silverware, will you, or you may be eating with your hands soon.
Hope all is well, and your stay in England continues to be a happy one.

My favorite New Yorker! Good morning to you and yours sir. About the kid, I heard someone say one time “good thing they bounce!” That’ll work right here and so will, “the bent prong was necessary for a good fight contender.” Everyone should understand. By the way—good thing they bounce! 👍🏿

Actually, I stopped eating beef first, it’s been several years now, I’ll guess 5. I stopped eating beef quite some time ago, it just really messed me up man. Constipation, sleeplessness, headaches, and all kinda stuff, I gave it up. Now that I don’t eat it, I pay attention to it and, the more I know, the more I believe I know why I can’t eat it.

Beef was the first to go and then it was chicken shortly after. I would still eat seafood, pork and turkey. Within another year or so I stopped eating turkey. Then there was about two years probably where the only meat I would eat is fish and pork, sometimes I miss the smell of pork but I can honestly tell you I don’t miss eating any of the meats. The only meat I’ll consume anymore is seafood and fish, been this way for a few years probably so you know what that means?? When the Puradays parade shows up at the farm it’s all about cod, salmon, maybe some trout, a big stew pot of muscles and clams, some cold ones, a freshly rolled spliff and a handle of that got dang syrup!!

It’s always a pleasure to hear from you @thebigsweed.

To stick to a diet void of meat must have taken a lot of fortitude. With everything that we know about the ramifications of eating beef, chicken, and pork, the way you guys roll is probably a lot healthier.
You know what they say about teaching an old dog new tricks, well in this case I'm that old dog.
I would find it almost impossible to completely strike meat from my diet.
Hopefully, paying attention to nutrition as far as everything else we consume, will pay some dividends.
You know me, no pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides.
Our garden is pumping out ORGANIC vegetables, and the berry season has been unreal. The Blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries were almost impossible to keep up with.
The freezer in looking really healthy, and with us wanting to make it from year to year with our own produce, we may have to invest in another freezer.

If Puradays were ever to show up at the farm, the first thing on the menu would be,
IMG_1118.JPG
Made with gluten batter of course, and then we all could drown them in.IMG_2380.JPG

Have a great day @dandays and @puravidaville.
Where the heck did August go.

When they’re grown in your yard, are they still organic vegetables or are they just vegetables?

Also, if your garden does produce, in fact, “just vegetables” and, the “organic” vegetables in the market are just vegetables, then what in the heck are the just vegetables at the market??

Before I get into one of my rambling replies, I would first like to wish @dandays a HAPPY BIRTHDAY. We hope you have a great day, #farm-mom has got you pegged for 44 years young, just a lad yet.

OK, lets see if I understand this question.
What is the difference between vegetables grown in our yard which I call organic vegetables, organic vegetables labeled so, found in the supermarket, and just vegetables at the market.

Stuff labeled in the supermarket, Organic, I'm not really sure what the rules are for them to be able to label something organic. In our case, I know exactly why we say our vegetables are organic.

We use no pesticides, herbicides, or fungicides, and all fertilizers are of plant or animal origin.

organic noun
Definition of organic (Entry 2 of 2)
: an organic substance: such as
a : a fertilizer of plant or animal origin
b : a pesticide whose active component is an organic compound or a mixture of organic compounds
c : a food produced by organic farming
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/organic

The 3 different fertilizers that are used at different parts of the plants life are organic in nature because they are derived from, earthworm castings, Norwegian kelp, and bat guano.

IMG_5902.JPG

Fungi such as powdery mildew, can be halted with a simple solution of 2 tablespoons of Baking Soda and 2 tablespoons of Hydrogen Peroxide/gallon of water. Use this solution in a gallon spray bottle and the powdery mildew can no longer thrive on the leaf of the plants, due to this slightly acidic environment.

IMG_5903.JPG

This is a picture of the system we use to take down the dreaded Japanese Beetle.
Bag a bug. This contraption is hung in the garden, and the bait, which is a natural sex attractant lures the beetle into the bag, which there is no escaping from.

IMG_5906.JPG
Pictured here is Neem Oil. Neem oil is a vegetable oil pressed from the fruits and seeds of the Neem, an evergreen tree. This is a great product, and we use it on our Walnut trees as well. When harvesting the walnuts, it is nice to know that they have not been sprayed with any chemicals as well.
IMG_5905.JPG

Well, there you have it, No pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, or fertilizers that don't adhere to the definition of organic, are used on our veggies or fruit.

Now, just vegetables at the market I don't believe could say they are grown in this fashion.

Organic anything is infinitely more healthy for you than mass-produced, chemical-filled junk.
https://www.stapleton-spence.com/nutrition/organic-is-not-healthier-than-conventionally-grown/

Have a wonderful day, and I hope this may have answered your question.

You eat right out of your garden, right? Nothing is dirty out there, nothing needs rinsed off or anything? Sure, it’s what you do but you don’t need to. Right?

We only get “organic” which are just vegetables compared to your organic vegetables.

Thank you—44! Yup. 44 so I’ve now lived exactly 45 years. Ya’all got hitched literally hours prior to my first breath of existence which, by the way, required CPR. Fact—I wasn’t breathing when I was born. Hm, interesting, i didn’t realize I’d share that information today.... I’m sure you remember what day but how many virtual or real buddies can tell you, off the top of their head, with 100% certainty and willing to be the farm on it ya’all got married on a Saturday? 👍🏿
