A Trip To Melanting Temple in West Bali
Hello everyone, I'd like to share about my trip to the temple in West Bali.
It was another holy day celebration called Kuningan Day. On the Kuningan Day many Balinese would go to different temples in their village or to the temples further away from their homes to pray. As for me, I went to the temple called Melanting Temple located in BanyuPoh Village, West Bali.
After driving from my home and passed through the forest of the Bali National Park, we arrived in Banyu Poh village where the temple is located. We were there at around 10 AM. There were already many people in the temple. I could see some cars and motorbikes in the parking area.
From the parking area, we walked to the small road which lead us the temple gate. To reach the gate, we walked through quite a number of stairs.
There were a couple of gates we saw during the walk to the temple. These gates were called Candi Bentar or the split gate.
We continued walking to the ascending stairs until we saw two statues of serpents or naga. These serpents are the symbol of prosperity.
We saw some people walking down from the temple as we got closer to the second gate. They have finished their praying.
Entering the second gate, we reached the first courtyard of the temple. From here, we continued to the main courtyard which we could reach by going through a small gate.
Finally, we got into the main courtyard. The praying was about to begin. There were some people sitting down cross-legged in front of the shrine.
We joined the prayer. The praying last about half an hour. We got sprinkled with holy water and given rice by the priests as symbol of blessing. When we were finished, we got ready to leave because the next batch of prayers would come. I took a chance to take some more photos inside the temple.
Here are some more photos of the temple shrines, and also photo of me and my family.
After the praying has finished, we walked downstairs from the temple and getting ready to go home.
Great photos! I have a Bali dream for honeymoon. :)
Thanks. Let me know when you come to Bali for your honeymoon.😉
I hope we can come. :) We already delayed everything for a year because of the corona. We do not know what will be the condition of the disease in the new year. :(

What an incredible place... and most people don't seem very bothered about the damn virus. Good for them. Personally, I think the world has overreacted to this illness. 🙄
Thanks for the article and photos!
