The stop at Llandaff Oratory 1925 | The Little Church

After driving for over 320km, Garry pulled off at Van Reneen Pass, quietly I wondered why he chose this spot for a stop little did I know I'm going to love the place.

Llandaff Oratory is an oratory in Van Reenen, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The oratory was built by Maynard Mathews in memory of his son Llandaff Mathews who died while saving the lives of eight colleagues at the Burnside Colliery mine on 19 March 1925.

A very old little church it is built in 1925. Any Hiver that old on here? 😄

We stooped for a quick coffee but I was less interested in coffee and started taking pictures, Garry said

don't worry finish your coffee we will go inside briefly you will be amazed

And yes I was amazed by the size of the little church, I rang the bell when we finally had the chance to go in as it was quite busy with people going in and out for visit and taking pictures as well.
A brief memory of Llandaff Mathew on the wall, what a selfless human he was. May he rest in peace.

Having to stop by at church during our travel was sweet to me as I left home last Sunday knowing there is no Mass for me today. I feel blessed stopping quickly for church.

After a long drive and getting to the guest house, tired and hungry. We went out for supper and the next town we could only get food was in Shelly beach a 17km drive from Melvile. We found Spurs at Shelly beach and settled for supper and our busy day on the road was done safely.
