Hello everyone, HIVE people, I would share with you all how we make our traditional cake called timus. It's steamed sweet cassava wrapped in banana leaves. Timus is made of cassava, brown sugar, grated coconut, and a little bit of salt.

Here is the process of making timus cake. First, we prepared some cassava. There were a lot of cassava plants farm in my island, so it's easy to get them.

After peeling the cassavas, we grated them. It was my job to grate the cassavas
(helped by my wife), and I quite enjoyed doing it.

Next, we grated the coconuts on top of the grated cassava. Once we finished grating the coconuts, we mixed the coconut and cassava together.

The thing I did next was cutting a palm sugar and sliced it smaller pieces. Slicing the palm sugar this way will make it easier to mix it with the cassava.

We put the grated cassava, the coconut, and the palm sugar into a big bowl. We stirred to mixed them all together.

The next thing is that we took a spoonful of this "dough" and wrapped it in banana leaves. We had about 2 kilograms of the dough which gave us about 50 pieces of the wrappings.

Wait a sec, it's not over yet. We jumped to our traditional stove to steam the timus cake. After twenty minutes of steaming, the cakes were ready.

The taste of the timus cake is obviously sweet because of the palm sugar. It's also felt a bit jelly-like because of the cassava. Well, it's one of my favorite traditional cake that I usually eat with a cup of coffee.
