A Beautiful Sublime Sunday - Revisiting a Pond Full of Ducks...
On the last visit to my egg lady's house I had stopped by a nearby pond that was full of a variety of ducks. It was so delightful to see them all on the beautiful landscape so I decided to stop by again to see what ducks were there. Once again I was happy I did for there were a multitude of ducks some busy scooting around the lake, some grooming themselves, some were feeding and some had found a good spot to rest.
There was a band of pink smartweed jutting out into the pond which seemed to attract a lot of ducks.

This brigtht eyed golden-eye duck popped up on the scene while the other ducks were bottoms up, it looks like he is whistling at the upside down duck!

Buddleheads are cute little ducks which are fun to watch for they are divers.
Here's a few more photos of them.
Another thing that is cute to see is the ducklings and the Gadwells had their family out swimming.
They were quite close but the mother duck swam them further out into the pond when she saw me watching them.

Duckling Giving It's Belly a Good Grooming
A very active group of ducks and ducklings was this brown headed duck (I'm not sure what kind of duck they are so I'll be doing a search to find out. If any of you know what they are please let me know!)

I'm not sure what the fellow above was up too but he kept scooting around on the water surface!
This group of ducklings was busy grooming themselves.

I loved the photo below with two of these brown headed ducks stretching their wings

I stayed for well over an hour snapping pictures before I had to leave. By that time there were more ducks tucking their heads in and resting in the safely of the water.

I hope you enjoyed this visit to the pond, I sure did and only left because I had to catch the store before it closed. It was fascinating to see such variety of ducks with many, oh so busy!

Yes things are starting to feel like Fall here so I'm happy to see the ducklings have matured so they will be ready for the Fall migration.
Are you getting out more now?
Always lovely to see them grow then take flight, knowing next year they return to raise their young.
We are allowed to travel more freely now, went on one park walk with the dogs on the first weekend, next weekend was raining and too wet to get out, hopefully this weekend will be another walk.
Happy to hear you are getting to travel more freely now and I'm sure your dogs are happy too!
