Social Distancing

I think this area along with many other parks in the State are now closed to try and support social distancing, or more tot h4e point, closed because not everyone is practicing social distancing, as I have seen from the odd drive by I have done of some of the local beaches, even though there is plenty of space on the beach to walk, I see so many walking along the road by the beach on the footpath, often keeping a good distance from those walking in front of them, but of course people are walking in both directions back and forth along the beach and since most are walking on the footpath or boardwalk, pass close brothers often.

Which is what lead me to think of the Mondo Pond Trails for today's post, sure people want to get out walking, and a trail like this that does a circle around the pond ( all be it a short loop) would be a great place to practice social distancing and yet get some activity and fresh air, if people would all walk in one direction and keep a good distance.

now the *IF8 is where the problem lies I believe, many would do that and walk the one direction and keep space from others, but sadly there is a small group , who either still believe COVID 19 is fake, or that their young and it wont affect them so who cares, or lastly believe no one can tell them what to do and would walk the opposite way on principle.

and how do I know that, at The Silver Sands State Park, that put signs up on a portion of the Boardwalk from the Car Park to the beach, making it one way, but from the one time I drove by it,there were the few who felt the signs weren't for them and walk the opposite way, which lead them closing off that walkway completely.

OK Rant over a little bit about the Trails

The Mondo Ponds Nature Preserve walking trail borders ponds were created after gravel
was excavated during the 1950s.

The five ponds and wetlands cover about 36 acres.

I find it such a nice place to walk as the vegetation includes marsh, hardwood
swamp, upland American Beech forest, and conifer habitats.
I often see people walking there with binoculars to view the waterfowl and other wildlife that can be viewed in the ponds and nearby forested areas. About 175 birds have been
documented at this special place including endangered, threatened, and species of
concern. it is is also popular for people fishing in the pond which I see about every time I visit there.

Butterflies, dragonflies, and damselflies can often be seen along the pond edges.

Sounds like a lovely place to go walking, both photographs draw one into the destination.

Yes, many will assume the virus will skip them, it for another, in reality it is selfish not to make way, giving good distance for safety to both.

I think when we eventually are allowed to take the dogs for a walk, we will all be wailing like banshees down the road.

Yes Woody normally barks and howls all the way there, too tired coming back to bother.

Our weather hasn't been good enough to allow us to go out lately. Hopefully tomorrow we can get out and about in our park. I have been wanting to take my wife to a wooded park to do our walk, but it has just been too cold and I am sure they are much too muddy.

Poster perfect photos as usual. Thanks for sharing.

Some people think this pandemic is a hoax because they probably read somewhere that there are more deaths by flu (200k+), malaria (200k+), TB (100k+), etc. in the first 3 months of this year compared to 62k+ by the Corona virus. Why make a big fuzz about it? While this may be true, the question that begs to be asked is "How many of these deaths (flu, malaria, TB, etc.) are from the USA? Or from the first world countries? I would venture a very insignificant number. Now, let's take COVID-19. Out of this 62K+ deaths, 7k+ is from the USA, 7.5K+ from France, 4.3K from the UK, 15.3k from Italy and 1.3K from Germany. That's more than half of the 62k deaths already. And that is what is frightening with this virus. It does not discriminate against poor countries. It hits ALL countries, rich and poor alike. Moreso the rich ones. I do hope they start taking this seriously.

Yes, I don't know why one always have to have people who just spoils everything for others, by not caring!! They are just selfish!!
