My visit to the Church of Our Lady of Hope (Eng - Esp)
Greetings, fellow travelers! It is a pleasure to greet you and wish you an excellent, blessed day with your loved ones. Today, I am sharing my visit to the Church of Our Lady of Hope (Nuestra Señora de la Esperanza), located in the La Llanada district of Cumaná, the capital of Sucre State. I had wanted to visit this church for months because I liked its exterior design, but every time I went, it was closed. While running errands in the area with my son, we passed right in front of the church; I was immediately drawn to its design—the triangular shape and the colors—but on previous attempts to visit, it had been shut.
During Holy Week, we finally found it open. I really liked the interior design: the ceiling is black, the walls are white, and there are two rows of pews, one on each side. Since there were many people around, I only took a few photos to show you the interior of this unique church. Although the design is simple compared to others I have visited, it is still beautiful—especially the ceiling. It features a mix of black and white columns in the center and triangular columns at the altar. The curtains are white and gold, and the tables feature matching colors in their tablecloths. The space is decorated with flowers and wall-mounted fans, and the windows are a mix of square and semicircular shapes.
At the front, the façade combines ironwork—featuring horizontal and vertical beams with an opening at the top—with a light fixture and a stone-clad wall; the entrance door sits centrally, flanked by rectangular windows, with white lines separating the doors and windows. The front area is paved with terracotta, and the property is enclosed by a concrete perimeter wall with white metal fencing; a close-up view reveals the structural details at the top.
The entrance is a double-leaf white metal gate featuring a square-grid pattern. The stones covering the façade come in shades of light beige, reddish-brown, and gray. Access is provided via two steps and a walkway leading to the perimeter fence, surrounded by Ixora and grape plants; the offices, pastoral residence, and children's classrooms are located nearby. The next photograph shows some of the thick black beams that support the structure, resting on low walls beside the garden. Along the side wall, a walkway paved with clay tiles leads to the rear offices, offering a view of the beautiful garden and several trees.
Saludos amigos viajeros un placer saludarles, deseando que tengan un excelente y bendecido día en unión de sus seres queridos, en esta ocasión les comparto mi visita a la iglesia nuestra señora de la Esperanza ubicada en el sector la Llanada en Cumaná capital del estado Sucre, desde hace varios meses quería visitar esta iglesia pues me gustó su diseño exterior, pero las veces que iba estaba cerrada, durante unas diligencias que realizaba con mi hijo por esta zona pasamos en el transporte, justo al frente de la iglesia, desde que la vi me gustó la forma triangular, los colores y volvimos en otras oportunidades pero estaba cerrada.
En semana santa se nos dio la oportunidad de verla abierta y debo decir me gustó el diseño interior, el techo es de color negro, las paredes son de color blanco y tiene dos filas de bancos ubicadas a cada lado, como habían muchas personas solo tomé algunas fotografía, para mostrarles el diseño interior de esta particular iglesia, aunque el diseño sencillo en comparación con las que he visitado, no deja de ser bonita, la parte del techo combina columnas de color negro y blanco en el centro y columnas de forma triangular, en el altar la cortina de color blanco con dorado y las mesas combinan también estos colores en los manteles, está decorada con flores, los ventiladores en las paredes y las ventanas son cuadradas y semicirculares.
En la parte frontal la fachada combina hierro en la parte de arriba, varias vigas colocadas en forma horizontal y vertical con una abertura en la punta, luego la lámpara y seguido de ello una pared cubierta con rocas, la puerta en el centro y ventanas rectangulares a cada lado, las ventanas y las puertas están separadas por una línea de color blanco, el piso en la parte frontal está cubierto con terracota, cuenta con cerca perimetral en un muro de concreto, las rejas son de color blanco, en una vista más cerca se aprecian los detalles de la estructura en la parte superior.
La puerta es una reja de color blanco con cuadrados y dos hojas, las rocas que cubren la fachada son de color beige claro, rojizo y gris, para ingresar hay dos escalones y una pasarela que conduce hacia la cerca perimetral, alrededor hay varias plantas de Ixora, Uva y al lado se ubican las oficinas, casa pastoral y salones de clase para los niños, en la siguiente fotografía se aprecia parte de las vigas que dan soporte a la estructura, estas son de color negro bastante gruesas y están ubicadas en pequeños muros al lado del jardín,
en la pared lateral hay también una caminería cubierta con caico, que conduce hacia las oficinas traseras, se observa también el hermoso jardín y varios árboles.
Moving to the other side, we see the green roof, the structure supporting the beams, and the semi-arched windows with white grilles, as well as the perimeter wall at the rear; unlike the other garden, this one abounds with palm trees, plants with white flowers, and several varieties with purple foliage, while the ground is paved with concrete and serves as a parking area.
Next, we have a view of the side door, followed by the window, a walkway similar to the one seen on the previous side, and various plants adorning the garden—with palm trees being the most abundant here. We then see the roof, the side door, the window, the garden, and the walls supporting the beams; these walls are clad in stone, just like the church façade. Finally, we observe part of the perimeter fence, the wall with its grilles, and a post at the entrance, along with the beams, the adjacent garden, and the rooms located at the far end of the property.
Avanzando hacia el otro lado, observamos el techo de color verde, la estructura donde reposan las vigas, las ventanas en forma de semi arco y con reja blanca, también el paredón perimetral en la parte posterior, en este jardín a diferencia del otro abundan las palmeras, plantas con flores de color blanco y varias con las hojas moradas, el terreno está cubierto con concreto y sirve de estacionamiento.
Luego tenemos una vista de la puerta lateral, seguida de la ventana, una caminería similar a la que vimos en el lado anterior y varias plantas que decoran este jardín, las que más abundan en este lado son las palmeras, a continuación, una vista del techo, la puerta lateral, la ventana, el jardín y los muros que sirven de soporte a las vigas, estos están cubiertos con roca al igual que la fachada de la iglesia, luego se observa parte de la cerca perimetral, el muro con las rejas y un poste en la entrada, también vemos las vigas, el jardín al lado de estas y los salones ubicados al final del terreno.
The interior design is very beautiful, though it took me several months to get a good look at it; as I mentioned earlier, the place was often closed when I visited, and my timing didn't align with the service schedule. After several attempts, I finally had the chance to observe the interior: the ceiling is black with metal bars forming squares and rectangles, the walls are white, and there are wooden benches lining both sides. A white column runs across the ceiling from the entrance to the far end; one can also see black beams, light fixtures, and thicker beams forming a triangle that supports the structure.
Along the sides, the ceiling features a sort of mesh network that provides both protection and support for the heavy roof structure. At the altar, there are gold and white curtains, golden columns, and a table adorned with tablecloths and beautiful flowers; the floor in this area is paved with caico tiles, just like at the entrance. The final photograph shows the various sections of the altar used for activities associated with different celebrations. There are also white wall-mounted fans and a beautiful sunflower decorating the pulpit. I would have liked to take more photos of the interior, but there were too many people there on the day of my visit; nevertheless, these images allow you to see the church's design and internal structure.
El diseño interior es muy bonito y para observarlo me tomó varios meses, ya que como lo mencioné al principio, las veces que iba estaba cerrada y no coincidía con el horario de los servicios, luego de varias visitas tuve la oportunidad de observar el diseño interior, el techo es de color negro con cabillas que forman cuadrados y rectángulos, las paredes son de color blanco y los bancos de madera ubicados a cada lado, en el techo se observa una columna de color blanco que atraviesa el techo desde la entrada hasta el final, se observan también las vigas de color negro, las lámparas y otras vigas más gruesas que forman un triángulo el cual da soporte a la estructura.
A los lados el techo tiene una especie de red, que también sirve de y protección soporte a esta pesada estructura del techo, en el altar altar, se observan las cortinas de color dorado y blanco, columnas doradas, la mesa decorada con manteles y hermosas flores, el piso en esta área es está cubierto con caico al igual que en la entrada, en la última fotografía observamos las diferentes divisiones que tiene el altar para realizar las actividades correspondientes a cada celebración, hay también ventiladores en las paredes los cuales son de color blanco y un hermoso girasol que adorna el púlpito, me hubiese gustado tomar más fotos del diseño interior pero el día de mi visita habían muchas personas y no fue posible, pero en estas se puede observar el diseño de la iglesia y su estructura interna.
