RE: My Top 5 Favorite Non-Ghibli Anime Movies! <3

You are viewing a single comment's thread:

I saw Hotarubie No Mori e,
The girl who leapt through time,
5 Centimeters per Second.

The last one is my favorite among these three.

Apart from Ghibli, I really love Satoshi Kon's work.

I remember watng 5 Centimeters per Second years back. I know that I enjoyed it and I cried, but I couldn't recall the story exactly... should I rewatch? haha

I've been mea~ing to watch Tokyo Godfathers and Paprika... what other Satoshi Kon movie do you recommend?

He died prematurely and has only a few films in his repertoire. I suggest seeing them all if you can do it.
If not, do watch Perfect Blue as well. ๐Ÿ˜Š

'5 cm' is Shinkai's best work IMO. He uses a lot of montage arbitrarily in all of his films, but it worked in this case.
Dunno about rewatching though ๐Ÿ™…, if you can manage the time, sure.

Ohh.. I'll check it out! :)

I remember my feelings when I watched the film, but I can't remember the story clearly, except that the scene was in some train and train station and that it was snowing. I watched Tenki no Ko last night, I'd make a review on it when I get the chance. :)

Yep and the grow apart. It's a tragedy, but not usual obvious one. Remember the scene where they meet again, as adults? Passing each other without knowing? After walking past a hundred or so yards, they feel like something happened. Something was lost. Something they can never have back.

I havenโ€™t seen Tenki no Ko. Looking forward to read your post.

Yes.. I'm slowly remember more scenes... I really should watch it again. I think it's a Makoto Shinkai thing... I mean, meeting again bringing back pieces of memories...

I recommend you watch it, too. I was so happy when I saw it on Netflix as I missed watching it in the theater. xD Thanks!
