Rogue Agent

It's been five years since the agency had a report about a rogue agent. The last one had been really messy, that they had made sure to put different measures in place in other to prevent something like that from reoccurring.

So when news reached the Agency that Abdul had gone rogue, everyone was surprised.

“How did they get to him?”

“What offer was given to him to make him change sides?” these and more were the questions flying around.

Abdul was a senior agent in the organization. He was the current leader of his team, a man that was also seen as god by his team mates. When the news first reached the organization that Hussein, a high ranking officer had been killed by Abdul, everyone at the agency had thought it was a joke until they said the video tape of Abdul doing just that. And then about two days after the first attack, Abdul struck again, this time, it was another superior officer who had bite the dusk.

The death of another senior officers was the last straw that broke the camel's back. All hell was let lose. The Prime Minister ordered the agency to make sure every of their best agents was after Abdul.

Two weeks after the order was passed, Abdul found himself unconscious in a strange apartment. He tried recalling how he got there but all he could remember was being attacked by about four men from agency. He had successfully killed two of them before he got struck at the chest with a knife. Then he had dropped to the floor, slowly slipping into unconsciousness before all of a sudden there was a little commotion, a sickening thud and then silence.

“Welcome back to earth” someone's voice startled Abdul back to earth.

“You?” Abdul couldn't believe his eyes. The man standing right in front of him was Eric, the agent who had gone rogue few years ago. He instinctively placed his hand to his side, hoping his side arm would still be there but it wasn't.

“Yeah you won't find it. I also took out the knives in your boot and your other side arm.” Eric continued. “Look I know you want to kill me but I just saved your life, those two guys weren't easy to take down you know? So before you do anything stupid, let's talk.”

Abdul thought for a minute before deciding to play along. After all he had nothing to defend himself with and his chest still hurts like hell. “My name is..”

“I know who you are Abdul, I've read your file. I just want to know why you decided to take my shine. You know I used to be the only one they talk about in the agency.” Eric said with a smile.

“Well about a few weeks ago, I ran into some files that had the names of some senior officers who were working for the same terrorist organization we've been trying to bring down. I thought about taking the information to my boss but I didn't know who to trust, so I..”

“....so you decided to be the hero. The only problem is that the people you're trying to save are the ones after your life, the irony.” Eric chuckled. “Well it feels nice to have someone to talk to after all this years of loneliness.”

“Well think again because unlike you, I'm not a traitor.”

“And you think I'm a traitor? You're basically me five years ago. I also found out that there were some rotten eggs in the organization, I took care of the ones I could lay my hands on except for Hussein and Darco who are now dead, all thanks to you. Now we just have to look for a way to get the last one.”

“There's another one? But the file had just both their names in it.” Abdul was confused.

“Well that's because he makes sure nothing traces back to him.”

“To who?”

“The Prime Minister” Eric replied, the smile on his face made him look like he had gone crazy and Abdul thought so too.
