Neoxian City Photo Challenge - Please Let Me Out!

ntopaz-image-0All Leo the gigantic husky ever wanted was to be let out of his yard. We had fences everywhere on this property and he wanted to be behind none of them. Roaming our Shelltown San Diego California neighborhood was his goal.

My landlord did not like this dog his daughter owned, and they were in a constant war. Any time my landlord went into the back, Leo was seeking his moment to run. I never knew where I would find either one of them when I went outside. My landlord could be anywhere and the many gates might be open, shut, or chained up by locks. Leo might be in the back crying to leave, in the front yard, or out on the street.

The amazing thing about this dog was that all it took was a firm word to get him back. No matter where he was, I had only to yell out, “Leo” and he would coming running to my side. Then it was simple matter to get him back to his yard.

But if the gate was not chained, he could open it and run free again.

This post is my entry for the NEOXIAN CITY PHOTO CHALLENGE - WEEK : #5 with the theme of pets. Show us your pet photo, and you can enter too.

I used a Canon ELPH160 point and shoot camera for this photo.

My dog wouldn't leave the gate because he'd never put himself in a position to be far from me willingly.

My dog has some husky in him but not enough to give him that escape/prey drive that they are known to have, but your Leo seems pure husky alright, even down to those gorgeous blue eyes!

Yes, he was a purebread, and so big, @kharma.scribbles! I have never been so close to such a big dog before in my life. He was so sweet, but never stopped moving :)

Hope you're doing well, Sharon! What a handsome dog Leo was, and I especially like those sparkling blue eyes of his! Dogs certainly are smart, aren't they? How long did he live? My son wants a husky once he's able to be in a place that allows them. I had a German Shepherd/husky mix who was one of the smartest pups ever but never a purebred huskey. We've been doing research and are not sure why exactly the breed is prone to be escape artists other than they need to be exercised daily. Thanks to the Game of Thrones there has been a surge of popularity in the breed and unfortunately an increase in the number being turned over to shelters because they require work (and daily brushing). Maybe we will luck out and find one to adopt @fitnfun

When I left that place, he was still alive, @ninahaskin. I think he was only 2 at the time. The owner would not let me walk him since she said he would drag me down the street. She could hardly do it herself while jogging. I do not have tv, but people definitely think they can do what they see there :)

It's a shame the owner would allow you to walk Leo. Nothing wrong with a little extra exercise to tire him out. Btw, how long has it been since you moved, Sharon? I recall you had relocated when we met on TSU @fitnfun

Hi @ninahaskin - so late to my replies :)

That dog outweighed me, so I think her advice was wise.

I moved to Thailand in March 2016 and then Malaysia and August 2018. Next is probably Cambodia maybe in Feb 2020. It all depends on the visas and immigration officials these days.

We have so many tsusers here for long term. It's like a gang - but in a good way :)
