End of the trip to Cyprus E4 / Zakončení cesty po Kyperské E4

Today I have prepared for you the last part of my journey through the beautiful landscape of Cyprus. After a successful morning photosession at Governor's Beach, my colleague and I went along the coast to Limassol. The journey was pleasant as it was mostly flat and also on the sandy surface. So after the previous liquidation day the trip was very relaxing. There was basically nothing to see on the road, because the road was on a high cliff. As a plan, we set out in the morning to visit a village called Moni. But in the end we reassessed the plan and stopped only at a gas station where we bought a sandwich baguette and a bottle of wine.

Dnes jsem si pro Vás připravil poslední díl mého putování po překrásné krajině Kypru. Po úspěšné ranní fotosession na Governor's Beach, jsme se s kolegou vydali kolem pobřeží k městu Limassol. Cesta byla příjemná jelikož byla většinou po rovině a navíc po písečném povrchu. Takže po předchozím likvidačním dni byla cesta velmi odpočinková. Cestou nebylo v podstatě nic k vidění, protože cesta vedla na vysokém útesu. Jako plán jsme si ráno stanovili, že navštívíme vesnici s názvem Moni. Ale nakonec jsme plán přehodnotili a zastavili se pouze u benzínky, kde jsme si koupili obloženou bagetu a láhev vína.

Then we went down the road to Amathusa where we wanted to spend the night. As an ideal place we found a spot just behind the local power plant. But it was quite early to settle down, so we went to the beach. But it was raining and the forecast didn't look better. So we built a canopy and a few bushes. We opened the wine and sat and planned what to do next. There was a small fireplace, so we lit a fire. As a fuel I started collecting washed-out sticks from the sea. During the following evening I cleaned about 100 square meters of beach from wood. When the wine ran out we continued with the vodka left over from the previous day. The colleague had the idea of ​​playing petanque with the stones that lay all around. The ground was a sandy beach that was not straight. The adjacent power plant took care of the lighting. During the first half of the game, I was losing. Fortunately, I was saved by rain, during which we overcame the rest of the bottle. In a rather ruined state, I turned the game and led to a victorious end. Then we went to sleep in the place we had looked for before.

Pak jsme šli po silnici k městečku Amathusa kde jsme chtěli strávit noc. Jako ideální místo jsme si našli plácek kousek za místní elektrárnou. Ale bylo poměrně brzy na to se zabydlet a tak jsme šli k pláži. Jenomže začalo pršet a předpověď nevypadala lépe. Tak jsme si postavili přístřešek z plachty a pár keříků. Otevřeli jsme víno a seděli jsme a plánovali co dál. Bylo zde malé ohniště a tak jsme zapálili oheň. Jako palivo jsem začal sbírat vyplavené klacky z moře. Během následujícího večera jsem vyčistil asi 100 metrů čtverečních pláže od dřeva. Když došlo víno pokračovali jsme vodkou, která nám zbyla z předchozího dne. Tu kolega dostal nápad zahrát si petanque s kameny, které všude okolo leželi. Jako podklad byla písečná pláž, která nebyla rovná. O osvětlení se nám starala přilehlá elektrárna. Během první poloviny hry, jsem prohrával. Naštěstí mne zachránil déšť, během kterého jsme zdolali zbytek lahve. V dosti zničeném stavu jsem hru otočil a dovedl k vítěznému konci. Poté jsme šli spát na místo, které jsme si předtím vyhlédli.

The next morning, after breakfast we went towards Limassol harbor along the Limassol promenade. We had the accommodation we booked the previous day. On the way up the promenade, we only realized that the storm we had experienced in the mountains was extreme. All beaches were littered with all sorts of waste that washed up the sea. The sidewalk was washed away in several places by the sea. Broken parasols provided an apocalyptic atmosphere. Locally we had to overcome alluvial stones on the road. This continued until Limassol itself. We had paid for the accommodation from 2pm and so we visited a nearby restaurant. For lunch there were lamb ribs with roasted potatoes.

Následující den ráno, jsme po snídani vyšli směrem Limassol přístav po Limassol promenádě. Jako cíl jsme měli ubytování, které jsme si předchozí den zarezervovali. Cestou po promenádě jsme teprve pochopili, že bouře, kterou jsme zažili v horách byla extrémní. Všechny pláže byli posety všemožným odpadem, které moře vyplavilo. Chodník byl na několika místech odplaven do moře. Polámané slunečníky dodávali apokalyptickou atmosféru. Místy jsme museli překonávat naplavené kameny na cestu. Takto to pokračovalo až do samotného Limassolu. Ubytování jsme měli zaplaceno od druhé hodiny odpolední a tak jsme navštívili blízkou restauraci. K obědu byli jehněčí žebra s opečeným bramborem.

Finding a place to stay was also quite challenging because the hostel had no indication. Fortunately, I met a lady in one pass and she directed us to the finish. After accommodation we went to explore the city center. After that, as it has been portrayed by a few days back, we were very disappointed. Since it was a classic Middle Eastern city without historical character. So the new goal was to find a pub with draft beer. Everywhere were just cafes and clothing stores. That is why we went from where we came in the morning, because we saw some pubs on the way. After a few kilometers we found the bar Eifel. That day was a discount event on Českobudějovický Budvar (Budweiser Budweis). His colleague did not hesitate for a minute and was already ordering him. After my experience with this beer, I remained faithful to the local Keo.

Najít místo ubytování bylo také docela náročné, protože hostel neměl žádné označení. Naštěstí jsem v jednom průjezdu potkal slečnu a ta nás nasměrovala k cíly. Po ubytování jsme šli na průzkum centra města. Po tom jak nám to bylo vylíčeno pár dní zpět jsme byli velmi zklamáni. Jelikož se jednalo o klasické blízkovýchodní velkoměsto bez historického charakteru. Takže nový cíl byl najít hospodu s točeným pivem. Všude byli jen kavárny a obchody s oblečením. Proto jsme se vydali směrem odkud jsme ráno přišli, protože jsme cestou pár hospod viděli. Po pár kilometrech jsme našli bar Eifel. Ten den byla slevová akce na Českobudějovický Budvar. Kolega neváhal ani minutu a už si ho objednával. Po mých zkušenostech s tímto pivem jsem zůstal věrný místnímu Keo.

After getting through some big beers, we went towards the hostel. We met Kebab, where we had dinner on the road and a few beers. Along the way we refilled beer. So in the end I had about 7 of them. We took a shower and went to bed. At night the storm came and lightning hit the surrounding buildings. So the last night in Cyprus was worth it. The last morning we went to the sea, where they were over 2 meters high waves. The task for today was to find a bus station to get to Larnaca Airport. The station was just over 5 km from where we were. It was raining again. So we got wet the last time. The bus was running every hour, so we waited about 45 minutes, during which I bought food and drinks while waiting at the airport. The bus journey took about an hour and showed us the places where we had been in the past few days. Then we only had to survive 10 hours at the airport, because the weather did not allow to leave the airport hall. So it turned out that we took turns in commuting for a beer to a local shop. So the flight back to Prague was rather a teleport.

Po zdolání několika velkých piv, jsme šli směrem k hostelu. Potkali jsme Kebab, kde jsme si dali večeři na cestu a pár piv k tomu. Cestou jsme piva ještě doplňovali. Takže ve výsledku jsem jich měl asi 7. Na ubytování jsme si dali sprchu a šli spát. V noci přišla bouřka a blesky zasahovali okolní budovy. Takže poslední noc na Kypru stála za to. Ráno jsme se naposledy šli podívat k moři, kde byli přes 2 metry vysoké vlny. Úkol na dnešní den bylo najít autobusovou stanici, ze které by jsme se dostali na letiště v Larnace. Stanice byla něco přes 5 km od místa kde jsme se nacházeli. Začalo opět pršet. Takže jsme cestou naposled zmokli. Autobus jezdil každou hodinu a tak jsme čekali asi 45 minut, během kterých jsem nakoupil jídlo a pití na čekání na letišti. Cesta busem trvala asi hodinu a ukázala nám místa, kde jsme se několik předchozích dní pohybovali. Pak už nám zbývalo jen přežít 10 hodin na letišti, protože počasí nedovolovalo opustit halu letiště. Takže to dopadlo tak, že jsme se střídali v docházení pro pivo do místního obchůdku. Takže let zpět do Prahy byl spíše teleport.

In the last 3 days we walked about 35km. In total, we traveled 155.5 km in 10 days since we moved around the island. So we got to a set average of 15 km per day. We are definitely planning to return to the Cypriot part of the E4 route. This time we have experience how to go and what to expect and generally better prepare for the journey. This is definitely not the last E4 report this year because I plan to visit this route in other European countries. Which it will be, it remains to be seen.

Během poslední 3 dnů jsme nachodili asi 35km. Celkově jsme za 10 dní co jsme se pohybovali po ostrově urazili 155,5 km. Takže jsme se dostali do stanoveného průměru 15 km na den. Rozhodně se plánujeme na Kyperskou část trasy E4 vrátit. Tentokráte máme zkušenosti kudy jít a co očekávat a celkově se lépe na cestu připravit. Letos to rozhodně není poslední report z E4, protože mám v plánu navštívit tuto trasu v jiných Evropských zemích. Které to budou, to se uvidí.
