No Place To Hide [Short Thriller Story]

"I'm fucked!" -said the old man looking at the sky- "There's no place to hide, I'm truly fucked this time!"

Two hours earlier a little girl was running behind a stray cat, trying to catch it. The old man was recklessly driving his old truck while texting his landlord, that's the reason why he didn't saw the little girl in front of him and when he felt he hit something it was too late. He looked through the mirror and saw her covered in blood next to the cat, he didn't moved... he continued like if nothing happened. The truth is, he didn't even cared.

"I'm too old for this shit!" - said the old man while scratching his bald head, he usually did that when something bothered him. No, killing an innocent kid wasn't bothering him. Having to pay more for his rent was what had him pissed off. The radio of the old truck turned on by its own, the old man hit it twice to turn it off, he really hated music and that's the reason why he didn't saw the lights turning red or the huge gasoline truck passing by. It was a huge explosion. It burned all the cars at the intersection, 10 people were reduced to ashes and among them was the old man.

The sound of screamings awoke the old man, all around him were in flames. He was covered in blood but nothing hurt. He stood up and looked around, all were weird... the clouds weren't moving, the things were floating and people looked like they were out of sync. He instantly knew it, they were all dead.

"Karma is a bitch, huh?!" -said a young voice- "Over here grandpa!"

The old man looked everywhere but he didn't saw anyone, just a cat.

"Meow, bitch!" -said the cat- "Remember me? I'm the cat you killed... Oh and by the way, the little girl you crushed with your truck its in heaven now".

"I didn't knew cats can go to hell" -said the old man without any expression in his face- "This is gonna be a shitty eternity!"

"Hell? This is not hell, grandpa!" -said the cat with a wicked smile on his face- "Remember when you were a kid and had nightmares? You know, the ones where you thought you woke up but you were still asleep and couldn't escape no matter what? Well, this is that place and just because you're dead you won't be able to escape. Hell? Hell is paradise next to this place".

The clouds started to move in a sinister way, thunderstorms shaked the entire place. Screamings of tormented souls were filling every corner, the sound was piercing the heads of the ones who were there. The temperature lowered drastically, the street started to crack and boiling blood were coming out of it. Lightnings started to fall everywhere turning into fire every single thing it touched. People were running and screaming, some were burning, others where getting melted with the boiling blood, others were turned into ice or being torn apart and in the middle of all that was the cat and the old man.

"Remember the most unbearable pain you had while you were alive? That doesn't under any circumstance compares to the pain you will going to endure here". -said the cat while walking towards the old man- "The entities that lives here are very creative when it comes to torture. To be sincere, hell is way more merciful than this place. You're a lucky bastard!"

"There's gotta be a way out! Tell me how can I get out of here cat or I swear..."

"What? You gonna kill me? You already did, grandpa! That's why you're here! You not only killed 2 innocent creatures, you didn't gave a shit and that's why you were brought here cause scumbags like you deserves the special treatment"

"You're here too, cat! You will be tortured too!"

"Please bitch, I'm just a cat! I don't have a soul, I can't be tortured, but you... Oh, I'm gonna enjoy seeing you suffering!"

The ground started to shake heavily, the sky was tearing apart. Balls of fiery blood were coming out of the black clouds. The old man tried to run but the cat was holding him. Who would knew cats would have that kind of strength at the other side! Who would knew cats would be so revengeful! The screamings were unbearable, the old man bones were shaking with each screaming but he couldn't moved or speak. The fear left him speechless, his heart were banging inside his chest the same way a mad drummer hit his drums. His eyes were wide opened, he couldn't closed them. The cat put his paw on the old man's jaw and made him look up.

"Look at it very well, grandpa. Do you see it? Do you see your worst nightmares coming out of the clouds? They're coming for you and you won't be able to escape..." - said the cat with satisfaction and then walked away.

"I'm fucked!" -said the old man looking at the sky- "There's no place to hide, I'm truly fucked this time!"
