Hive at 0.4048: Would it go lower?

avatar

I love doing posts like this.

Not because they are easy to do. But because collectively such posts show me how silly I can be. They are fun to read back, and they teach me something.

More about that later.

At the point of taking the screenshot below, Hive is trading at 0.4048. Would it go lower? Based on the Stochastic RSI, my immediate guess is that it would. It could hit 20 and then go up.

Of course, that is just a wild guess.

Screenshot 20230128 at 10.31.35 PM.png

13 days ago, I posted that Hive spiked to 0.40. And now, it is basically staying here.

Screenshot 20230128 at 10.37.39 PM.png

In December 2022, Hive went down to 0.26, and I was actually hoping for 0.20.

Screenshot 20230128 at 10.39.29 PM.png

In November 2022, Hive was at 0.50. See post.

Screenshot 20230128 at 10.42.05 PM.png

This is the post that got me chuckling!

If I were to be paid in Hive for my day job, I would have lost 20% of what's worth.

But since I have not bought it then, if I buy it today using November's paycheck, I would have given myself 20% extra of the pay raise paid in Hive!

Anyway, I am still buying on a DCA mode. Maybe I should step up as 0.50 could be soon, and I will kick myself again.

Who knows?

P/S: This is not financial advice, and please do your own due diligence before investing.

I think we will always kick ourselves 😂 but if hive drops back ot 0.30 or even 0.25 I would be smiling even though I would lose half the value... The thing is I want to buy in muchh more.... But let's see what happens....

We might even never see 0.3 again ever.

for hive we need to check price to btc not to usd, so question is how much satoshi it costed then and now.
About hive i was a little shocked then in top10 powerup of the day/week you can be with 100 hive. https://peakd.com/@arcange/hive-finance-20230127-en its a little too low for a BIG community. So we need more buyers and new blood.

True that about pricing in BTC. Thanks for the reminder.

I get what you mean about that shock part.

But Hive is still top 200 in coin market cap in the face of thousands of other tokens. So it is solid that way. Other tokens have less utility but people just buy for speculation and trading.

It’s a strange world!

The price doesn't matter and I think looking at it really messes with people. I try not to pay attention to it but I do think Hive will do well in the next bull market. From what I see, the development is real so it's time to build. I personally like keeping a part of it as HBD savings so I don't have to worry that much.

I'm trying to limit myself in HBD because I really believe Hive is going to go up either way. When it'll be higher, I might change strategy and get more HBD, but I'm aware that this is where GREED sets in.... !LOL

Nobody knows... But there are a lot of indicators that BTC "could" go (a lot) lower than 20K. If BTC sinks, the rest sinks as well, so will Hive.... !LUV

That's when the stability of the Hive-Backed Dollar (HBD) token gets interesting. 😏 #NotFinancialAdvice 😆😅 !LOLZ !CTP

Indeed, here my consideration and question is: will HBD always be worth the same as the USD? Is there something that could influence this (value)? !PIZZA !CTP

All Hive Witnesses are asked to vote how much each HIVE is worth in terms of HBD, and the median of the votes of the Top 20 Witnesses determine the resulting value of HIVE in HBD (that is followed whenever giving author rewards or converting between HIVE and HBD). 🤓 That means HBD itself is not directly tied to USD, but only algorithmically pegged to it. 😏

Normally, operators of Hive Witness nodes look for the prices of cryptocurrency exchanges to determine what price to vote on (mostly using bots to do so). 📊 It's technically possible for the Hive Witnesses to vote much higher or lower than the price of HIVE in external exchanges, but it would obviously cause problems with the prices of HIVE, HBD, and other tokens on Hive. 🤯😅

My screenshot of the #PeakD Witnesses Page shows how much each of the Witnesses vote for the price of HIVE in terms of USD. 🤓 You can see it on the Price Feed on the right side of the image below. 👇

Does this mean than that 1 HBD not necessarly is worth 1 USD? !PIZZA !CTP

Yes. 😀 I thought that you already knew about it whenever you see the price of HBD alongside HIVE. 😅 !PIZZA !CTP

Indeed, at least I thought that 1 HBD = 1 USD - always...
But does what you've been commenting mean that 1 HBD not necessarly is worth 1 USD?
I'm confused now... !PIZZA !CTP

1 HBD is pegged to 1 USD, which means that the blockchain "tries" to make 1 HBD exactly 1 USD, but because of the volatility of HIVE (and HBD itself), the price of HBD is almost always above or below $1 (but oftentimes not above $1.05 or below $0.95). 🤓

The #PeakD wallet page shows the current price of HIVE and HBD as reported by #CoinGecko. 😏 !PIZZA !CTP

ok, but it wouldn't go to 40cts for example? !LUV !CTP

If the price of HBD goes too low (such as $0.94 or lower for example), some Hive users with liquid HIVE will buy HBD on the (internal or external HIVE-HBD) market, then convert HBD to HIVE (undergoing a 3.5-day conversion period) where each HBD will be treated as exactly $1 when converting to HIVE. 🤓 That helps Hive users earn from HBD volatility, as well as help the Hive blockchain itself stabilize the price of HBD. 😏 !LUV !CTP

That's an interesting one... than actually it would be worth to repeat this process every 5 days? Or not?
Where do I see the exact rate for HBD? And where is the easiest (and cheapest - but I guess there aren't any fees?) place to swap Hive into HBD? !LUV !CTP

Since your comment has multiple questions, I have separated my reply here into multiple parts. 🤓

  1. I don't know where you got the "5 days" on your second sentence where you are asking how often it would be worth it to repeat the process. Maybe you just overlooked the 3. at the left of the 5 on my previous comment.
  2. Looking at the exact rate for HBD depends on the exchange you are looking at (whether at any of the internal HIVE-HBD markets such as the #HiveBlog market or the #Ecency market, or external exchanges). Some exchanges will show more accurate and more timely prices than others; some may charge more fees than others (especially in the case of external exchanges).
  3. Swapping between HIVE and HBD is free of charge on most internal exchanges (such as that of Ecency and Hive.Blog).

Have some !PIZZA with !LUV while reading this (somewhat) long comment! 😁

  1. I haven't overlooked the 3 but was wondering if you meant "3 to 5 days" because "3 and a half" days seemed a little strange to me... !LUV !CTP so it's 31/2 days conversion period?....
0

avatar

3.5 days is equal to 3 ½, not 31/2. 😅 !LUV !CTP

That duration is what the top Hive Witnesses have chosen as the time period of converting between HIVE and HBD. 😏 That's what they generally think is the best period of conversion, both to avoid discouragement of converting between the two tokens (which helps stabilize the price of HBD) and "market manipulation" (which you should ask those more knowledgeable in cryptocurrency finance instead if you want to know more). 🤓

I see the reason now. If it takes longer, people would not want to convert and HBD price would not stabilize, but if it goes quicker, people would be pump and dump all the time, which would destabilize the system. Clever. But what would be the best way to take advantage for the small investor, who doesn't want to take too much risk? !LUV !CTP

For me, the low-risk method of earning more from your own tokens is simply to invest in HBD savings, rather than to wait in spikes in price of HIVE or HBD. 🤔 That saves the investor time too. 😏 #NotFinancialAdvice 😅 !LUV !CTP

Some people say that time is worth more than money (especially if you already have the money for most necessities). 🧘‍♂️

Maybe you would like to ask on #Reverio how to manage your time better (by adding some details about your daily activities such as those for your family, work, and exercise). 🤓 !PIZZA !CTP

I don't. I know where there's more time, but I don't want to take it from there...
The early mornings - but I hate waking up early and it affects my day activities. And the 1-2h when I try to take some rest on a Saturday/Sunday afternoon - but if I don't do it it affects my week days that are exhausting already... !LOL !CTP

Asking for advice doesn't necessarily mean that you are obliged to follow it. 🧘‍♂️ Even if an advice is completely opposite of what you would like to do, at least you learned something on how (or how not) to approach your problem (which is time management in this case). 🤓 !CTP !PGM

I think that there should be more notices on cryptocurrency websites for people not to put more money than they can afford to lose. 🤔 That would help reduce the effort of people to convince others to move on from their losses (instead of them trying to use more money, or worse, borrow money) who lost (a lot of) money from failed cryptocurrency trading and/or investing. 🤗 !PGM
