Steamed Green Bean Cake Wrapped in Banana Leaves
Green beans are a type of legume that has many benefits for the body. These nuts contain protein, are rich in fiber, and are able to detoxify the body. Apart from that, green beans are also able to reduce weight due to their fiber content and detoxification, so they can facilitate digestion.
Previously, I had often made processed green beans, such as porridge for example. However, this time I will make a different dish than before.
Green Beans Cakes Steamed
This cake is a processed green bean which is a traditional snack. This snack itself is known as nagasari, but slightly different from nagasari, it generally uses rice flour and banana as the main ingredients.
This traditional snack is very delicious using green beans and adding a combination of hunkwe flour. Apart from that, adding thick coconut milk is one of the secrets to increasing the savory taste of this snack. Interestingly, after the dough is made, this snack is wrapped in banana leaves, so the aroma of the leaves in the steamer will give it a unique and different taste. It looks very simple, but believe me, it is very delicious, especially when enjoyed cold, the taste will increase even more.
Below I will show you the steps in making processed green beans!
Materials Needed
- 100 grams of boiled green beans,
- 200 grams of rice flour,
- 1 hunkwe flour,
- 900 ml coconut milk,
- 1 teaspoon salt,
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla powder,
- 2 pandan leaves,
- 150 grams of granulated sugar,
- Enough banana leaves for wrapping
Cooking Procedure
When making snacks from green this beans, I use boiled green beans. So make sure the green beans are perfectly soft so that the snack you make will be delicious.
Because here I already have green beans that were boiled yesterday in the refrigerator. So, I can use it straight away so the making process will be faster.
I started pouring the sifted and clean rice flour into the pan. Then, put the packet of hunkwe flour in the pan.
Knot the two pandan leaves together, then add the flour mixture to the pan, then add the granulated sugar.
Add salt, and pour in the thick coconut milk little by little while stirring and make sure there are no lumps.
Then add vanilla powder, then turn on the stove and cook until the mixture thickens.
Once the mixture thickens, add the green beans, then stir until the mixture is completely even with the green beans.
While waiting for the dough to cool and wrap it, I prepared banana leaves and cut the leaves into inch-sized pieces.
Next, I took a spoonful of the mixture that I had cooled earlier, put it on the leaf. Then flatten or shape the dough with your hands.
Wrap the dough, fold the top and bottom edges, do this until the dough is finished.
Finally, steam the mixture for 30 minutes, using medium heat. While steaming, check the scale.
Results
The delicious snack of green beans wrapped in banana leaves is ready to be enjoyed. I started to open the wrapper and taste it, preparing the cake pieces on a serving plate. Enjoy delicious snacks while relaxing in front of the house, breathing fresh air in the afternoon.
The taste is soft, sweet, really delicious, I enjoy the cake at cold temperatures. It tasted so good that I even finished several packs.
So, this dish itself is very suitable as a dessert at family events. It can even be used as a delicious snack as a gift for visiting family. As long as you store it in the refrigerator, this snack can last for approximately 2 days.

What a beautiful dish, my friend! ❤️ Here in Venezuela, plantain leaves (smoked) are used only for salty foods. I must try this marvel that you have cooked for us today. It's perfect for one of those afternoons when I feel like eating something sweet 😁
Have a great day!
The traditional dish in my country is almost eighty percent sweet. And we often use banana leaves as a wrapping material for cakes, or even spicy non-vegan dishes like fish and others.
I think in your country there are lots of banana leaves, try making them as wrappers for sweet dishes, they will definitely be very tasty and fragrant.
Thanks for stopping by, friend.
Yay! 🤗

This looks very appetizing. I have never tried something like this but I do have some of those beans. Just have to go to the special store to get banana leaves. They are not nice like yours haha.
